Designalism is an editorial project initiated by ACED, an Amsterdam-based association of designers and journalists. As part of this project, we were responsible for the UX/UI design of the designalism.nl platform. Our goal was to create a visually impactful website that emphasizes the role of an encyclopedia for projects that blend journalism and design.
Work process
Throughout the design process, we focused on developing a strong visual language that effectively communicates the essence of the project.
A significant amount of attention was given to the typography treatment, using the True Sans typeface from Bold Decisions, a Danish type foundry. The choice of typography played a crucial role in highlighting both the curation of the works and the works themselves.
By carefully selecting and employing True Sans with a custom-made typeface, we aimed to create a cohesive and visually pleasing typographic experience throughout the project.
A publication in the form of a journal was also designed for a special event in May 2022, featuring illustrations created by Maria Ponomareva.

After the initial release of the website in 2021, the Designalism website underwent updates and revisions in 2023, establishing itself as the primary communication platform for the organisation.
